Know what's in your archive.
Latent catalogs, captions and critiques a photo library on your Mac. It reads the folders you already have, describes every frame with on-device or local AI, and keeps the catalog on your own drive in plain files that outlive the app.
What it does
A catalog on your drive
Point Latent at a folder. It records every photo in _catalog/ beside your images, append-only and with relative paths, so the catalog travels with the drive and nothing is ever overwritten.
Captions from the model you choose
Apple Intelligence on this Mac, a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, or Claude in the cloud if you ask for it. Latent never switches to the cloud on its own.
Seen on this Mac first
Apple Vision labels each photo, scores it, spots screenshots and receipts, and reads any text in it, all on-device. Search finds "sky" before a caption exists, and burst frames turn up as Similar shots.
Critique with a spine
Measured contrast and sharpness gate the critique before any model sees the photo. You get composition, light and moment notes, a posting priority, alt text and a posting order for the set. Re-runs only critique what's new.
Ask your archive
Chat across every library you've cataloged. Answers are grounded in your own records and cite the photos they came from.
Rename without fear
Proposes folder_001-style names in the order the photos were taken, shows every change before it happens, journals it first, and undoes it cleanly.
Local first, by design
Latent has no account, no server and no analytics. Every model sees a downscaled copy of your photo with its metadata stripped. Full-resolution files never leave the disk. Anything that would leave your Mac asks you first, every time.
The privacy policy sets out exactly what is stored, where, and what is sent when you choose a cloud model.
